                    Frequently Asked Questions 

 

1. How can I become a member of the FAMU Section of NCNW?

 

  • We accept new members every semester! If you're interested in joining our section please attend an informational meeting.

  • If you are unable to attend the informational meeting contact us to receive the information and application. 

 

2. What if I am unable to meet the deadline for turning in my application, can I still join?

 

  • Unfortunately, if you are unable to turn in your application at the given date and time then you will have to wait until the next intake to join. However, you can allow someone else to turn your application in for you and you may even be able to contact a member of the executive board to make prior arrangements if their schedule permits. 

 

3. Can I send my application in via email?

 

  • No. We are only accepting applications by hand, however, if there is a conflict you may contact the Vice President 1 who is over membership to make prior arrangements. 

 

4. Does my community service hours have to be on my transcript?

 

  • No. We completely understand that the community service hours are not always on your transcript in time. We will accept an official letter that contains:  a letterhead, the number of hours earned, and the contact information of the signer. The hours provided must be within the past two years.

 

5. Does my community service have to be hours that I've gotten through an organization on FAMU's campus and do they have to be recent?

 

  • No. As long as you have proof that shows you have completed at least 30 community service hours through any organization on or off-campus. The hours provided must be within the past two years.

 

6. If I do not have proof of the minimum amount of community service hours, can I still join? If not, what do I do?

 

  • No. All requirements must be met. You will have to wait until the next intake and turn in another application. 

 

7. If I am unable to pay my dues before the deadline, what do I do?

 

  • Unfortunately, you will have to wait until the next intake. Dues will not be accepted after the deadline unless you have made prior arrangements with the Treasurer. 

 

8. If I can't meet the requirements this semester, do I have to wait until next year to join.

 

  • No. We have an intake every fall and spring semester. You will need to fill another application.
